People who are into sweet clichés like to refer to love as a journey. Well, for Christine and Matt, that journey isn’t just metaphorical. They’re adventurers. From the very first time they met, at a music festival that spontaneously turned into an extended camping trip because they didn’t want to go home, their life together has been about traveling, overpriced airport baguettes, heavy backpacks, adrenaline and an undying curiosity for new places and experiences. Snowboarding in Japan, backpacking across Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines, road trips through Europe, burgers in the United States, moving to Canada – you name it, they’ve done it. If you travel with the wrong companion, it can be quite the relationship test. Just think of long airport queues when you’ve put on one jacket too many, you’re sweating, the kid behind you is throwing a tantrum at the decibel level of a small thunderstorm, and you know you’ve got a 30 hour journey ahead of you still. It doesn’t scream romance.
But if you travel with the right companion – I’m talking The One, it’s different. You’ll carry each other’s sweaty jackets. You’ll take turns staying awake so that the other person can sleep on your shoulder to make the 30 hours seem shorter. You’ll have a glass of prossecco with your boxed airplane dinner and call it a romantic evening for two. That’s what it’s like for Christine and Matt. They make each other laugh in the airport queues. They support each others dreams and plans every step of the way and they scope out new adventures together. They happily buy each other overpriced airport baguettes. They’re each other’s One. And their adventures together have only just started.
