Roy and Bec’s eight-year-long relationship began at a mutual friend’s birthday party, where sparks immediately flew. Bec, only seventeen at the time, swears up and down that, despite the cliche nature of it, she was certain he was ‘the one’ from the very beginning. Their first date was plucked straight out of a romantic-comedy: a trip to the Royal Melbourne Show where Roy spent both money and his pride in an attempt to win Bec as many stuffed animals as possible. Years later, Roy proved himself to Bec once again when, after a tumultuous night-shift, she walked through her front door to what seemed like hundreds of flowers and candles and Roy right in the centre, on one knee, with a sparkling ring in his hands.
Roy and Bec’s wedding served as both a representation of their relationship and as a vision for their future; filled with special familial touches, tremendous warmth and a whole lot of partying! Their ceremony was held at St Catherine’s Church, where Bec’s parents were married decades prior whilst the reception took place at the magnificent George Ballroom. Although not everything went to plan, as it so rarely does, Roy and Bec say they will remember this day with tremendous fondness. Tributes to lost loved ones, a first dance combining both Roy and Bec’s heritages and even a dirty wedding dress will all be forever eternalised. It was truly a day that will never be forgotten.
